Properly timed dodging should cause the opponent’s strike to miss while placing the defender in an advantageous position with sufficient balance to deliver a powerful counter attack. Head and body movement should be paired with adjustments in the position of the knees and feet in order to evade strikes while staying within counter attacking range.
