Simply put, a stance is a transitional position. It is not meant to be a stationary technique but rather is a dynamic means to an end, whether that be offensive or defensive.
Blocking
Makgi
막기
“Mahk-Gee”
Blocking techniques are for defending oneself against an aggressor’s attacks. Generally speaking blocks can function as strikes in and of themselves or as deflecting/parrying movements meant to guide an attack off line, in either case an effective block should place the defender in an advantageous position to counter attack.

Flying techniques involve running before jumping to deliver a technique. Often used for demonstrative purposes, though once in awhile you see someone throw a flying side kick in the ring. It’s also a lot of fun to do!
Some people say that the Flying Side Kick was developed to knock a cavalry soldier off of their horse but this amounts to nothing but an urban legend, and a pretty silly one at that.
