水
Hansu (sometimes spelled Hansoo) refers to big water, the source that nurtures all living things. It represents the birth and growth of life, sturdiness and gentleness, tolerance, compatibility and adaptability. “Han” has various meanings, including one, many, big, center, same, full, together, gather, moment, and long. It also signifies the sky and the root of everything. Consequently, the characteristics of water — an element that cannot be broken or cut — are applied to the Hansu Poomsae. The practice of movement should be as flexible as water and constanta s a drop of water that constitutes a large sea. Its Yeon-Mu Line 水 signifies water, 한가람 Hangaram (the bloodline of the nation) and growth. Hansu Poomsae teaches practitioners to understand that every move is a technique of accumulating energy, not consuming it.
“Hansu Poomsae trains the practitioner to use the body and connect the moves seamlessly. Like the flow of water, sturdiness and gentleness, speed control (rhythm and tempo), and discipline become one to complete the entire Poomsae practice. Although it is composed of simple moves, the state of perfection should be revealed in the flow of the connected moves. Power should be created from the muscles and the body’s movement (not only the muscles but also the body’s movement). The aim is to reach a state of selflessness, wherein the moves flow naturally without consciousness.”

Performance Notes:
Rhythm / Tempo:
Be mindful of the different intervals between movements, which are determined by whether or not the next technique is offensive or defensive.Overlapped Hands Ready Posture → Ridge Hand Middle Opening Block:
The left hand needs to move to the dominant position when connecting these techniques.Double Hammer Fist Inward Strike:
The wrists should raise to the philtrum height and end lined up with the edges of your body at solar plexus height.Angled Forward Stance + Single Mountain Block:
When viewed from the front your rear arm (High Outward Side Block) should not be visible.Ridge Hand Middle Opening Block:
The second and final time this block is done it is right side dominant rather than left.Forward Stance + Palm Heel Block + Assisted Arc Hand Forward Strike:
Step directly diagonal into the Forward Stance. The Palm Heel Block will end higher than normal due to being paired with a strike aimed to the throat.Assisting Stance:
Step the same distance as making a Forward Stance, make sure to keep the same Lower Stance height throughout, ending with the rear knee bent alongside and protruding past the front knee.Assisting Stance + Double Turn Over Punch:

The blocking hand starts at shoulder height with the thumb pointed toward the floor, the target hand starts at belt level. The foot which steps backward is the same as the side which has the target hand.90° Crane Stance Turn:
Lift your foot directly into Crane Stance as you pivot sharply.Forward Stance + Palm Heel Block + Assisted Arc Hand Forward Strike (2nd Time):
Be sure to step the feet together in a bent knee Closed Stance as you prepare the strike, stepping again to finish the technique in Forward Stance.
