Registration Fees:
$80 for one or both events if received by February 15th
$90 for one or both events if received after February 15th

Identification:
ID for coaches and athletes will be available for pickup at the entrance at 8:00am.

Itinerary:

8:00am - Officials Meeting (coaches are welcome)
8:00am - General Admission
8:30am - Coaches Meeting
9:00am - Opening Ceremonies
9:30am - Colour Belt & Black Belt Poomsae

Colour Belt Kyorugi will begin immediately after all Poomsae divisions have ended.

Black Belt Kyorugi will begin as time permits.


Olympic Kyorugi Rules:

Current WT Kyorugi Rules & Interpretations are in effect.
Head contact is only for Black Belts 12 & Up

Colour Belt Match Times (subject to change):

  • Under 10 — 45 second rounds + 30 second rests

  • 10 & Up — 60 second rounds + 30 second rests

Black Belt Match Times:

  • Under 16 — 90 second rounds + 45 second rests

  • 16 & Up — 120 second rounds + 60 second rests

Olympic Kyorugi Protector Scoring System (PSS):

Black Belts: KPNP
(Fighters must supply their own e-socks)

Competitor Eligibility

Students must regularly attend Olympic Kyorugi and/or Competitive Poomsae classes in order to be eligible to represent the dojang in competition.

Olympic Kyorugi Class Times:

  • Monday: 6:00 - 7:00 (All Ages)

  • Wednesday: 5:00 - 6:00 (Youth & Cadet)

  • Wednesday: 6:15 - 7:30 (Junior & Up)

  • Thursday: 6:00 - 7:00 (All Ages)

Competitive Poomsae Class Times:

  • Tuesday: 5:30 - 6:30

  • Friday: 4:30 - 5:30

About Grandmaster Kim Sung-Ju
김성주

Grandmaster Kim was born in 충청남도 대한민국 Chungnam, Republic of Korea. He attained the rank of 9th Dan in 1993 and is the founder of Kims Taekwondo.

He began training in Chang Moo Kwan Taekwondo in the 1950s before moving to Canada and opening his first dojang in Regina on October 1st, 1973.

Grandmaster Kim Sung-Ju and Grandmaster Ha Kee-Sang founded our Provincial Sport Organization Sask WTF Association Inc. (Sask Taekwondo) in 1981.

Amongst numerous other accolades and accomplishments, Grandmaster Kim was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

Grandmaster Kim often hands out medals to sparring competitors at Kim’s Challenge, please be sure to greet him with the respect and kindness befitting a person of his stature.
