We cordially invite you to participate in our upcoming taekwondo tournament - Battle in the Snake Pit. We are thrilled to host this event and bring together taekwondo enthusiasts from various clubs to showcase their skills and foster a sense of unity within the community.

Our tournament, scheduled to take place on November 9th, 2024, at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School, promises to be an exciting and memorable experience for all participants. This event will be modified double elimination, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to shine. Our dedicated team has put in countless hours to ensure that the event runs smoothly and provides a fair and enjoyable experience for all.

By participating in our tournament, all athletes will have the chance to showcase their talent and dedication, while also fostering connections with other clubs and creating lasting memories. We aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can grow as individuals and as part of a larger taekwondo family.

Host Hotel: We are in the process of securing a block of rooms, an email will be sent out with hotel information at a later date, however, Swift Current has a wide variety of hotels to choose from.

This is the official Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for Olympic Taekwondo in Saskatchewan, Canada. More commonly known as Sask TKD or Sask WT. It is a member of Taekwondo Canada.

MODIFIED DOUBLE ELIMINATION EVENT

 

Fight trees will be Modified Double Elimination with Best of 3 Rounds format. We will be using current WT Competition Rules, including 5 gam-jeom maximum per round, 12 point gap, additional points added for technical turning kicks, etc.

Competitors will need their own:

  • Hogu

  • Arm Guards

  • Shin Guards

  • Gloves

  • Foot Protectors

  • Groin Protector

  • Mouth Guard

  • Helmet

  • KPNP e-socks (Black Belts only)

 

Colour Belt Kyorugi has NO HEAD CONTACT and will be scored manually via KPNP corner judging.

Recreational Black Belt Kyorugi has NO HEAD CONTACT and will be scored via the KPNP Gen1 Protector & Scoring System (PSS) – athletes must provide their own KPNP e-socks.

High Performance Black Belt Kyorugi has HEAD CONTACT and will be scored via the KPNP Gen1 Protector & Scoring System (PSS) – athletes must provide their own KPNP e-socks.

Round Times

Colour Belts Under 10:
45 seconds per round
30 second rest

Colour Belts 10 & Up:
60 seconds per round
30 second rest

Black Belt:
2 minutes per round
1 minute rest

All divisions will use the Best Of 3 Rounds format.
Random weigh in may be called the day of the event.

 Recognized Poomsae

Recreational Poomsae will be available to Colour Belts & Black Belts and will be contested via Head-to-Head format with Double Elimination. Colour Belts should do the poomsae of their current 급 Geup and Black Belts should do the poomsae of their current 단 Dan.

Sport Poomsae will be available to Black Belts and will be scored according to current WT rules with the KPNP Poomsae Scoring System. Poomsae draws per division will be announced closer to the tournament date. You can view your division information here.
